Boom vang mechanical advantage question
Over on another forum we've been having a lively discussion about how to determine the mechanical advantage of a boom vang. This link is to a pic of two different vang setups. The only difference between the two is the direction of the tackle is reversed. What is the mechanical advantage produced by each?

Mechanical advantage
A= 8:1
B=10:1 Cheers, MikeR |
I'll agree with Mike.
Both are 4:1 tackles cascaded in a 2:1 -- resulting in 8:1 for A and 10:1 for B, since B is rove to advantage.

Really?
Hello,
A lively discussion? About that? It's sort of like having a lively discussion about the difference between, oh, 8 and 10. What kinds of things are people saying? Fair leads, Brion Toss |
