I'm not sure if this is the same product, as I am not familiar with the 2000 part, but.. When we installed our nuts n bolts ports on our self built Searunner tri, I called GE who made the Lexan we were installing, for their recommended bedding. They advise for this purpose, was"Silpruf silicone caulk". It was expensive, came in colors, and only available through ordering. It was sold in the case of 12 tubes only, and has about a two year shelf life.

For this use, the resiliency of silicone was the way to go, because the Lexan expands and contracts at MANY times the rate of the boat. What is REALLY different about the stuff, VS hardware store silicone, is that rather than a 5 minute work time, it gives you about 40 minutes! This is about how long each installation took, and I couldn't imagine getting a good job with the hardware store silicone.

Its been 15 years, and no leaks yet... Mark
