Top end connectors

Hi all,

I am finishing my rerig and have some pins at the top threaded into forks which will hold the thimbles for the Dux stays. Unfortunately i will be unable to put a cotter pin on the end of the screws after they pass through the forks as the forks are not deep enough to do that without the screw rubbing the Dux. I am thinking of putting some red locktite on the screws. Will that be enough to hold the assemble together (1.25 length of 5/8-18 thread) or just for safety sake should I put a set screw into the fork to make sure the thread cannot back out. I am a little leery of this as it may well mean that the burr from the set screw hole will cause the screw to gall in there, making disasembly in the future impossible. How likely is the red locktite to ever let go without using a torch?

Hi,
Check out Colligo's handy mast tang fittings--I forget what he calls them, but essentially a little aluminum shoulder you bolt to the mast, and put a spliced eye of Dux right over it. Good for boats that still use mast track and therefore can't loop shrouds right 'round the mast.
Red loctite is supposed to be impregnable to all but the torch. I have not tested those claims.
