rigging vise?
Anyone know of a source for a reasonably priced rigging vise (a simple three point vice for eye splicing wire rope) for personal use?
Thanks, Bill |
I have made a very effective and simple rigger/s vise from scrap pieces of mild steel. I also have the same design which can be made from pieces of hard wood using an electric drill and some simple hand tools.
Write to ronwrench@hotmail.com and I will send you hand drawn diagrams and written notes for making one. cost of materials less than $10.00 and a couple of hours labour. |
rigging vise again
Hi
Does anyone, or Ron if you're still out there have the plans and/or notes on how to build a rigging vise still? If so I'd really appreciate seeing them. Please email me a wildcatbjj(at)hotmail(dot)com. Replace what's in the brackets with an actual dot and the "and" symbol for the address to work. Thanks Rowland |
Rigging Vise Source
Bill,
I have an inexpensive rigging vise from Elisha and Son. I think I paid $200 for it about two years ago. It works fine. Here is the link: http://www.elishawebb.com/SplicingVise.htm There are pictures of it on my website at: http://www.farreachvoyages.com/proje...ngrigging.html Hope that helps, John |

Hi all,
Every once in a while someone brings a riggng vise by, looking for a home for it. That happened the other day. Here is an attempt at uploading a picture of it. Looks rusty, but is actually in good shape, and would clean up beautifully. Wish I needed one.Great design. Contact us if you are interested, and I'll get in touch with the guy who needs to part with it. [html]http://www.briontoss.com/spartalk/images/attach/jpg.gif[html] Fair leads, Brion Toss |
Brion,
I am interested in the vise. I called and left a voice message. Thanks, John |
