1x7 wire for rigging
I have had a sufficient quantity of galvanised 1x7 (I think that's what you call it--it's seven preformed solid wires twisted together) wire made available for rigging my boat, and at no cost other than picking it up. Is 1x7 suitable for boat rigging? If it is, I can save a bundle on buying wire, and perhaps put that money toward Sta-lock fittings, and thus avoid having to splice that stuff, which feels pretty stiff.

Interesting. My only experience with 1x7 is as the core of 7x7 and, in thin sizes as leader for shark fishing. Norseman and Stayloc do not, so far as I know, make fittings for this. I doubt it would it fit their special order 7x7 very well. Can't wait for Brion's remarks.

1x7 not suitable
Brion addressed this in the past. Bottomline, 1x7 is not a suitable construction for sailboat rigging. To read the whole thread, search for "bend radius".
