Default Gilding compost

Hello,
While I understand the attraction of converting to a conventional furling system, especially one involving Strong Track, you would likely be letting yourself in for a world of hurt to do it with this mast. First of all you'd be adding weight to an already heavy mast. Second, you'd be pouring a lot of money into labor to get the job done. And third you'd end up with an old mast that, despite the "upgrade", almost certainly has other problems.
We are generally inclined to save and reuse old sticks, and very often we can do quite radical repairs that, while spendy, are far cheaper than a new mast, and perform as efficiently as a new mast. I doubt that this would be the case here.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss
