for the flika - you can probably just set storm sails on the forestay - the fore triangle is so small that you hardly have options to move it aft...

the trisail is normally sheeted directly to the deck, and the boom is NOT used for that sail.

of course, the prime derivative is that the boat balance under sail in a heavy blow. if you have lee helm, the trisail must be bigger, the jib smaller, or the jib moved aft. make sense or should I explain more?
