Hello,
It is true that, properly fabricated, rod is maximally corrosion-resistant. But it is also the most difficult to inspect, the most likely to fail catastrophically, the easiest to kink, the most expensive, and the hardest to jury-rig in the event of failure. All of these down sides have special relevance for bobstays. So I greatly prefer wire, of good grade, with a Hayn terminal or similar, filled with 4000, and I generally recommend installing a Schaefer long linkplate at the bottom, to serve as collision- and corrosion protection, getting the wire further out of the water.
