Default using 1X7 galvanized EHS for rigging?

Is there any reason not to use 1X7 galvanized EHS wire rope for standing rigging on a sailboat?

I've been told it is acceptable by using a "fisherman's splice" (parceled & served) for terminations.

Also is there anywhere I can get the formula for determining the inertia moments for both boat & mast to make sure that all is sound in that respect?

Thanks,
Carl
