![]() The line selector guide at New England Ropes recommended 11mm sta-set x for my halyards. When searching the web for a good price some sites only had sta-set x plus which wasn't even listed on New England Ropes website.
SPECS size ----- wt 100ft ----- strength ------ cost sta-set x 7/16" ---- 5.9 lbs ------ 7,400 lbs ---- $1.05/ft sta-set x plus 7/16" ---- 5.4 lbs ------ 7,500 lbs ---- $1.75/ft Aside from these specs I have no information on these lines so I would assume I'm getting the same handling characteristics for both lines with a weight savings of 0.5 lb/100ft for an additional $70/100ft. Is there anyone out there with some hands on experience who can make any other comparisons? Thanks in advance. |

![]() The Sta-Set X plus is similar to Sta-Set x in that it's a parallel cored line thus it splices the same. It does however have some Vectran blended into the core making it a bit stronger and have a bit less stretch. It also features a nicer/smoother less fuzzy cover than the Standard Sta-Set X, which tends to wear better. The plus version of Sta-Set X is being phased out, or so I was told by the local NE Ropes rep. in favor of their newer blended core VPC.
