Default inspecting rod rigging

Occasionally I have calls to do rig inspections on rod rigging. What's the proper procedure to inspect rod, and can it be done without lowering the mast?

What about carbon PBO?

Default Ummm

Hello,
This is like having a mechanic saying, "Occasionally I have calls to fix the steering on someone's car; how is that done?" If you don't know, then you are not a mechanic, or at least not one with expertise in that area, and you should say so when so called upon.
Rod is one of the most difficult things to inspect, cannot be thoroughly inspected without partial component disassembly, and even then can require a microscope and a thorough knowledge of the nature of the problem, including material characteristics and the specifics of manufacture, among other things.
This page is for short questions, ones too short to charge for. Your question would require training and consultation to answer.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss
