![]() Brian,
Since my first topic with spartalk was regarding furlers, I will stick around and see how this game plays out. Wonder if it was the furler or the installation? Bob |

![]() I have a friend with a Downeast 38 who recently removed his staysail furler.
I am not sure of the brand but it looked first generation. It is designed to be used with hank on sails. He offered the furler at no cost, and I would be able to use my old hank on sails, but I didn't like the idea that the whole forestay was dependent on the integrity of the swivel unit. At least if something goes wrong with the modern designs, you still have a forestay holding the rig up. Possibly it was one of these type of furlers that did the halyard in? Bob |

![]() This damage is most certainly caused by an incorrect installation. My challenege is to see if anyone can identify which brand fails which way. (or if I can possible guess when someone else posts a photo)
Not an easy game, maybe not possibly, but there a few clues in that photo...

![]() definately an installation issue... so lets start by a process of elimination, lets exclude furlex, as the stay is (should) almost completely enclosed by the foil and the silencing tube. And if you guys have come across the kiwi brand 'reefrite', it shouldn't be one of them as it has a long swage at the top which the top bushing rides on.
any more ideas?? |

![]() Hi all,
How about using this to revive the Puzzler? It's been a long time since we gave away a Fabulous Prize. Interested? Fair leads, Brion Toss |

![]() dang K, thats fierce ! But where is the infamos 'halyard puck' that was supposed to be there ? (oops, scroll right, big photo ! )
I got some to equal, but not with the halyard still there. Amazing the stay stayed connected ! here is another photo of the 'puzzler' wrap showing more clearly the chacteristic marks identifing which furler brand. http://mywebsite.register.com/db1/00...s/DSCN4723.JPG
