3/4 in. double braid eye splice problem

Hello,
I got the 3/4 " wand and eye splice video from Brion. got through the 5/8" demo line Ok, however when trying to do an eye splice in 3/4" I have the problem in that is is almost impossible to pull the core out at the spot I need to make the turn for the eye. I just can not move it out of the sheath.
I resorted to start pulling the core out closer to the bitter end, i had to do this in 3 seperate pulls. One at 8 " in, another at 16" in and a final one at 24".
Needless to say I got the core out of the first hole in the sheath, however when it exited the second hole it was completely unraveled. I tried to hook it at the second hole and pull it into the sheath, even though this was short. I could not get the unraveled braid to behave at all. completely unsuccessful.

If anyone else has seen this problem, please let me know.
Could it possibly be just cheap rope ?

Diameter doesn't appear to be the issue here. Can you tell us the brand and model of the rope you are using? Is it new, absolutely new, rope?
