Default Rod for bobstay?

I'm replacing the standing rig on my Cabo Rico 38. The local rigger is suggesting I use rod for the bobstay as it will be less likely to have corrosion issues at the bottom. The stem fitting is just above water line. The rest of the rig will remain wire. This seems a good idea to me but I had not seen it mentioned here and figured there may be a reason. Any reason to not use rod for the bobstay?

Hello,
It is true that, properly fabricated, rod is maximally corrosion-resistant. But it is also the most difficult to inspect, the most likely to fail catastrophically, the easiest to kink, the most expensive, and the hardest to jury-rig in the event of failure. All of these down sides have special relevance for bobstays. So I greatly prefer wire, of good grade, with a Hayn terminal or similar, filled with 4000, and I generally recommend installing a Schaefer long linkplate at the bottom, to serve as collision- and corrosion protection, getting the wire further out of the water.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss

Thanks Brion,
I thought there might be a reason I hadn't seen it before. Glad I asked.
