![]() Man OH MAN!
What is up with Sparcraft? I've been casually then fanatically trying to obtain parts for a rig that came down. I'm not looking for anything archaic.... But a few different things that come directly out of the current catalog... 1. Length of mast section S1060 2. Splice joint section for above 3. Length of BF-5 Spreader section Charleston-NC directed me to a few distributors, all of which are well known. These guys have been met with the brick wall too… They simply CANNOT get any answers out of Sparcraft… To their credit, the distributors have really put in quite an effort too… tried all angles, personal contacts…. 7 months of calls and emails, and I’m no closer to my objective… ANY thoughts would be helpful ! Thanks In advance… HS |

![]() Heya AnaLog
![]() I'm a pretty active member over there actually.... I figured this was probably a better forum to post this particular question... There really is some spectacular information and specialized expertise here…I could be wrong, but it seems as though Spartalk has slowed down a bit in activity… ![]() The particular pieces I’m looking for are a mast section, factory splice extrusion and a spreader section… If I find out answers, I’ll definitely post the information here… I’m heavily leaning towards using synthetic rigging for most of the re-rig, so I’ll be around a lot more… Big stick, 72’ triple spreader, solent/cutter… ![]() Thanks a ton for the reply! ![]() I understand Spar Craft has a new owner--some kind of investment conglomerate. Apparently they are having problems. Sounds like the customer is secondary to other considerations.

![]() Update ...Best answer yet came from SA... Some we knew, some new...
Charleston Spars / Sparcraft was sold to the company that also owns Wichard and Profurl. They have gotten out of the production spar business except for one-designs like Etchells, Sonar, J24 and are now only producing high end products. They have let go most of their staff that knew the production line of spars for replacements - I think that David Lively (one of the nicest and most experienced sparcraft guys) is now working for US spars. All of the replacement/spare parts were sold off to Rig-rite, leaving them the sole solution for replacement parts. Your best bet with them is to send a clear and concise email with part numbers and quantities - they will get back to you. The more concise you can be, the faster the reply. All the information is on their website, and they expect you to do the research before placing the orders. Best of luck. |
