HM End to end splice

I've searched high and low for a good end to end splice for Dyneema double braid but all I can find is splices for polyester or other non HM lines. I've got several of Brions books and tapes but I can't find the info in them either.

I need to splice our mainsheet together so as to be continuous and the splice can't be very fat as it will have to pass through some blocks from time to time. The mainsheet gets pretty heavily loaded at times so I don't think I want to trust the jacket, even if doubled in the splice.

What's the best way to do this splice.

I have done a bury of both ends of the core (with the jacket milked back to work under) then bring the jacket back together and stitch end for end. The cover is kinda funky where stiched end for end, but the core underneith is strong. This does increase dia , normally it will still fit through blocks, but not jammers ! This all depends on the hardware you have...

Thanks Brian - I have actually tried something like that but getting the cover length right is a worry - when I tried it I wound up with too much cover and it bunched a bit and made it hard to pass through turning blocks.

This has been a challenge for us, too, but I believe I have come up with a solution. It will be published in Book 6 of our Working Rope series, but even though I'm now actively working at writing, that will be a while. So for the moment, perhaps you can interpret the following:
Use double-length tails, for both core ends. For us that's 144diam of the core.
Taper the tails such that half the yarns are gone at the 72diam point. Make a fair, regular taper.
Tuck one end into the other at the midpoint, and bury it to its own midpoint.
Repeat with the other end.
Since both ends are at half size where they marry, and since the tapers are complimentary, there should be no significant increase in diameter throughout the splice. This is analogous to Ashley's Long Short Splice, so you might want to take a look at that, to be clear on the concept.
Stitch generously, for low-load security.
If you wish, you can even throw in a locking Brummel, by my grommet method.
You will need to work out how much to shorten the covers, but there should be little or no takeup to worry about. If unsure, just leave the covers plenty long, and shorten them to suit after the cores are tucked.
