wire to rope splice--12braid to 12braid

I once spliced a 12 strand hollow braid to a piece of 3 strand. Just unravelled the last 8" of the 12 strand then made 3 clumps of 3 strands. I buried the end of the 3 strand down into the hollow between the 3 braided pieces, then proceeded to tuck the 3 new braids into the 3 strand.

I'm not sure how strong it us, but it served it's purpose.
