Splcing Question: Tucking cover tail into splice

Hello,
It used to be possible to tuck a bit of the cover inside with Samson as well as Yale, but my recent experience is that, as a result of toughening up the covers for abrasion resistance and stopper performance, the covers are now too tight to allow anything but a properly-tapered core. But you might try the splice by the method of taking the core out on the end side of the line, tucking the cover stub in at the appropriate place, and then pulling a bight of core out at the far side of the eye, to tuck into. I believe the Yale site will have the instructions. But if you want a pretty splice, I'd recommend serving over the taped-down stub.
