Default HM line to tangs

A friend and I are considering converting his trailer sailer to HM for the standing rigging. Just the shrouds and backstay, he has a cdi roller furler and we feel it may chafe too much for the forestay. Any way right now the mast has sheet metal tangs with 1/8 1x19 ss nicopressed with thimbles. What are the best options to connect 1/8 HM to these without causing chafe issues? So far we have considered SS shackles or maybe those threaded chain links. The rig is fractional so soft eyes are not an option. This is NOT a blue water cruiser but a lake sailer. I just need something smooth and rounded to ring hitch the line to. TIA
