Sorry for coming back so late; I did not realized I had my responses.

Hmm, I put in the shock cord but really it seems to only keep the line taught when attached to the boom and not in use. It...

Interesting Allen. I've been reading lots of contradictory stuff on preventer line. Some say to use 3 strand to allow for shock loading. Others say staset so as to allow too much stretch.

I've been...

Actually Ian I'm talking about maintain structural strength in the boom -- not anything to do with line chafe.

But since you didn't immediately say No No to that picture, I guess that cutout will...

My understanding is that there should be no sharp corners in cuts in the spar. Only rounded. Is it enough that on the flat side of cutout there is a very small radius of rounding rather than like on...

Not too late all!

Even with the the buildup, I will still need to mount one of the bolts right thru the stringer. Should I avoid that all costs or will the build up account for that? If so, I will...

I hate to do this, but I'm still unclear. I'll reiterate my understanding again and hope someone sees fit to set me straight.

- I have a covered HM line (say warpspeed).
- The covered line is...

Thanks Brion!

I lost you here. Do mean that at this point the HM line ends and is spliced to a different single-braid? Or that you remove the cover at that point and tuck into the HM single...

Thanks Ian!

One of the reasons I asked this question was because since the trysail track will be mounted next to the tides marine track, its seems that the trysail will lay over the tides track a...

Is there a preferred side on which to mount the trysail track? (eg, starboard to help move towards "safe" quadrant).

Yes, I see that some of the seldon brackets are similar in design to mine, but others do wrap around (p42 I think).

It just smells to me to have a custom bracket made that for a very minor change...

No, because the gooseneck is on a bracket (see post below this one) and there are no holes in the mast for it yet -- so I can mount anywhere I want.

But if I were to raise the gallows, my question...
