Well, unfortunately a number of knowledgeable people on Sailnet are telling me, (and I'm summarizing here), that even a Solent Stay, without a running backstay, will not produce a proper sail shape...

The stay will def. be removable. I'm looking into building a tensioner using a cascade of low friction rings, (Antal), and then lead aft. The stay itself will be Dyneema...
