![]() Hrmm, I'll take that as a "No".
It's obviously an older furler- it has a round aluminum luff extrusion that has rotated (about 90 degrees) in relation to the furling drum. The surveyor suggested repairing the staysail furler as opposed to simply replacing it altogether, I think it might be difficult to repair without knowing the maker! The jib furler is a new Furlex, and seems very satisfactory- ![]() Last edited by pkoken : 01-12-2007 at 09:28 AM. |

![]() Is the extrusion load bearing or does it surround a load bearing wire? I know that some of the furlers with load bearing extrusions have been deemed not worth fixing -- Hyde Streamstay comes to mind...

![]() I believe there is a stay within the extrusion, but I am not sure- Is there a way for me to check (without disassembling the furler)?

![]() Without knowing what it is, it is tough to comment...
Try to contact Rigrite (www.rigrite.com). These guys specialize in obsolete parts -- they stock parts for a few old furlers. Good luck, Bob |

![]() This is just a guess, 1st would be an old Schaefer 2nd would be an old Hood. Sending a pic to either companies tech support would confirm.
good luck Jake |

![]() So... long story short, it got yanked and a new Furlex is going on in it's place. Not surprisingly it was in very poor condition when pulled- with the top bearing completely frozen!

![]() Hi Guys, It could be a Reefurl they are a Austrailan company.
The Reefurl foil usualy has only 1 join or even none. The forestay wire has bronze locking collets with ertalyte plastic bearing disks spread evenly along the lenght to support the foil. So if the foil has no joins that is my bet, they have a website. Simon |
