Default Endless loop in double braid

I am having trouble finding out how to make an endless loop for my Hood 705 SeaFurl.
I need information about making something like a long splice.
I'm using 1/2" double braid and this application runs my furling line thru a tapered pulley so I can't allow very much enlargment at the splice.
Thanks in advance for any information...

I'll second that... I'd like to know how best to make end-to-end splices in double-braid and Sta-Set-X for endless two-speed mainsheets...

Default end for end splice for polyester double braid

Yuri,
I am not sure about the StaSet X, but this would probably work as well there as anywhere.
Since I am telling you this "riggers secret", I expect you might let me sail that pretty little gaffer when we are down this Feb ?

Get your line lead through the lead blocks and furler CORRECTLY (ha ha ha, really funny when you do this splice then find you missed a block)

Make a mark on the cover (mark 1) one full fid length (Samson fid) from the end of the line, make another mark on the cover (mark 2) at two fid lengths from the end of the line. Do this to both ends to be end for end spliced

Mark 1 is your crossover point, mark 2 will be the end of the cover/core each side.

Tie a slip knot a few feet down from the end of each line end. Extract the core from the line at mark 2, leave core long and hanging out. Do this to each side of the end for end.
Insert a fid, taped to the end of the left lines cover, into the right line at mark 1 on the right line, and bring the fid of the left line out of the right line at mark 2 on the right line. Leave the left line full-length with the right cover bunched up. Do this again but with the end of the right line into the left line at mark 1, out at mark 2. Tighten the crossover with a few firm tugs, then work it soft by rolling between your hands.
Now you can remove the fids and tape from the ends of the covers, milk the covers back inside so the ends disappear. Now milk from your stopper knot until the core is well back inside the cover at mark 2. Cut the core a little long and stuff it inside. Use some stitching and whipping to secure the core ends, the covers and all. THIS IS NOT A FULL STRENTGH SPLICE. It IS the one we normally do for continuous line furlers.

I have thought about trying out something that uses long tapers of the cover and core with them overlapping inside the cover, with no change in diameter, but haven't had the chance to experiment here yet...

I hope someone else has a better one .... I love learning about boats, so please share.
