![]() Hey riggers,
I'm starting up a new local rigging service here in Florida and some of the marinas I'll be working in require $1million(!) in liability insurance. Anyone have that? If so, who is it with and what are the premiums? Thanks, RB |

![]() Ask other contractors in your area for who to deal with. In this area 90% of us all use the same (local) company. That level of insurance isn't unusual so far as I can tell. Ours is a municipal marina and they demand they be named as a co-insuree on the policies and also charge a several hundred a year contractors fee.

![]() In the Annapolis area we are required to carry 3 million in liability insurance, plus workers compensation. We are also required by every marina to name them as additioanal insured, which costs an extra 500 a year to have the ability to keep writing those certificates.
My insurace bills run around 5k for Liability, 15k for workers comp, and then there is the cars/trucks and office equipment too....thats per year. Insruance bills are a big part of the reason we have to charge $90 per hour....

![]() Can someone name an agent or carrier? In non-marine-specific locations agents that understand what we do are far and few between...

![]() I worked with an agent 'Moran Insurance' in Severna Park for a few years before switching to ' Morow Insurance' here in annapolis.
Both handle many of the marine contractors in the area. They are just agent's, however
