![]() On Sta-loks and Norseman, swageless, what is wrong with re-using the cones and formers ?
My Sta-loks came with ss cones and formers, and when I re-use them, I am not able to visually detect any damage to them, that would require replacement. So, what is the damage to them, that require replacement ? I have seen cones in older Sta-Loks , made of brass or bronze, and these were deformed or dented where the ss wire was crushed against them, and these I would replace. Does anyone have photos of failed Sta-loks, or Norseman fittings, that they could share on this forum ? Douglas |

![]() you can't really post photos to this fourm, unless you host them elsewhere then link. big pain for no real gain
The cones of these terminals get indentations from the cable, and also probably get fatigued. sometimes they are cracked when you take the fitting apart... The rule is to not reuse them, they are only like $5 a piece, so don't re use them. Really you probably could if they are fine, but why at $5? the former doesn't need to be replaced unless it is corroded, in which case the whole fitting may be suspect.
