Default Traditional methods with synthetic rigging

Hi all,
I'm in the process of rigging my boat with Dynex Dux. My question today is regarding spreader tips. I have seen it mentioned that using PVC hose over the Dynex at the spreader tips is one method of anti-chafe. I'm thinking of serving the line where it goes over the spreader tips. Reference page 219 Fig. 6-56 in Brion's book. I'm looking to use as many "traditional" methods on this line/rig as possible. After all I am rigging my boat with garbage bags.

Any thoughts on why this would not work?

Thanks,
Gary
