![]() Yes , you can cut out the dented section, place a sleeve inside , and continue on !
Do the repair, properly , and it will have little effect ! There is info in the archives on this forum . Douglas |

![]() I was hoping to do an external repair without cutting the dent out as this would require shortening the standing rigging. I was thinking of an external sleeve, filling the dent with epoxy, and gluing and screwing the sleeve on. I know it wouldn't be pretty, but other than that, is there any problem with this plan?

![]() My mast was severely dented in two places, under the two stb spreader bases,,,, this caused a "set bend" , or bow in the mast.
I haven't heard of anyone using an external sleeve, but that doesn't mean , that it is not doable. I think I read on this forum, that Brian Duff uses an epoxy to glue in,,,, an internal sleeve ? Check this forum archives for mast splices, there might be useful info there. Could you not, elevate your mast step, with a plastic block, of the same thickness, that you might have to cut out of the damaged mast section, then you wouldn't have to shorten your shrouds ?
