I'm surprised you found the Oysterman easy to untie, as I find it harder to untie than the Double Figure Eight.

I wonder if the "modified Turks Head" is the same one I saw on Youtube. Essentially a Carrick Bend with the ends tucked up through the middle. Bulky and symmetrical, but the last tucks leave two lumps at the base of the knot. A rigger to whom I mentioned this knot was concerned that it would pull through, although he had not tested it.

Concerning the tails, I have just been tying them as though they are one line, then trimming and melting the ends. Have not tried tucking one inside the other.
