![]() If you look at 20 seconds into the video linked below you will see that they are about to attach the two jib sheets, which have eye splices on them, to the clew ring using some kind of line, soft shackle, or lash up. But if you look closely, it looks like the end is just line, not a knot as in a soft shackle. But this has to be some kind of spectra or high strength line and you can't just tie that stuff. You can see the finished setup at exactly 30 seconds into the video. Does anyone know what it actually is that they are using to attach the sheets?

They look a lot like Equiplite High Tech Soft Shackles With the sheets spliced onto just one of the shackles. I have a similar system on my boat, and they are great. At least until the velcro starts to wear, and then they can cause some problems. If you are interested in them, just keep in mind that once a year or so you have to sew new velcro onto them to make sure the strap stays closed, otherwise the shackle can pop off. |
