![]() Wanting to to a reeving splice for Regatta Braid. It's a 12 strand hollow core polyester line.
No matter how much and how long I taper, can get the join thin enough to pass through sheaves. Any suggestions? Cheers, MikeR |

![]() Rather than a reeving splice, why don't you seize a loop of something small on to the end of it. If done well it should be no problem to make up something small enough for your sheaves, pleanty strong for the relatively very small loads imposed, and of course good (professional) looking.

![]() Sorry, should have said that this is going to be a continuous main sheet so I need at least a good portion of strength since I never know where the join is going to be.
Still looking.... Cheers, MikeR |

![]() Are you meaning an end for end splice? When you said reeving splice I thought you were just wanting a loop that you could tie a tag line on to. Hmmm, as far as I know you are going to get an increased thickness no matter which method you use (though hopefully more of a splicing guru than I can help you there) but with a good tapered 12 strand it's usually not that thick. Perhaps your sheet blocks are undersized. What hardware are you using and what size line is it? Hopefully brion or one of the other splicing wizards will join in here.

![]() Hello,
I worked for some time on a practical long splice for 12-strand. It can be done, but not practically, or at least I haven't figured out a way yet. The closest I came was a HM core, in rope sufficiently small as not to increase the Regatta Diameter significantly, overlapping a butted joint. But even this required bulk-inducing whipping, besides the core. Actual splices were, well, you'll just have to try it to appreciate it. So we go with Sta-Set for endless sheets. Fair leads, Brion Toss |

I've tried endless (no pun intended, well I guess a little bit) varieties of tapering, burying, whipping and nothing gets the join anywhere close to the original diameter. I can get pretty close when, for example, making a grommet out of Amsteel 12 strand but the Regatta just bulks up enormously. Maybe just not to be. Cheers, MikeR |
