Default New wood spar??

Hello,

Had a snafu with the foremast on our boat, found a bad scarf of sorts

She is a gaff rigged schooner

Sooo, we have the existing main mast about 52' overall, solid mahogany and in good shape, and the foremast left over the mountains for another life in a house.

This has opened up alot of doors as to how we rig the boat. I am considering using the main mast for a foremast and getting a new main mast. I have been looking on the internet with little luck in finding a wooden spar builder in the nw let alone what the cost might be. I know there are some in PT but haven't found any web sites. I have also considered using aluminum As I said lots of roads to go down?? A marconi main with a fixed backstay would be nice, if so what kind of stick? If we stay with a solid spar what is the availiblity of suitible wood around here?

Any thoughts??

Thanks

Jake
